Today is International Yoga Day and I wanted to give a shout out to Yoga, the practise and all the it does for me! I saw a video asking people to say, 'What has Yoga Given you? And it got me thinking.........well, I started Yoga after having 3 babies in 3 and a half years (yep that is true!!) and I was in a constant state of fight or flight and I was always wanting flight and basically to run away from any challenge or thing that I had to do.....and when I say challenge I don't mean running away from a Sabre Tooth tiger type challenge, I mean the making breakfast for 3 little people with different orders type challenge....RUN!! Screamed my mind. And sorting my phone out when it was water logged..... at Vodafone in a shopping centre type challenge?!......RUN!! This actually led me to having my first panic attack, full blown, couldn't breathe, I am going to pass out, type panic attack as if I was going to die....and I was only in Vodafone....yep no danger. at. all. Just in Vodafone. I didn't know what to do or who to tell to help me.....so one day (about 3 years ago) I rolled out my Yoga mat (that I had from my uni days) and I did Yoga. I did it everyday and I kept a tallying to make sure I did it. and I mediated and I found my calm. I stopped looking outwards for solutions to make me feel better and I started looking inwards. I asked myself what I truely needed and what was my self care, that I needed and the answer...........was space. Yoga gives me space. For my mind to relax, rewire and feel fresh again. It reminds me to slow down, let go, to positively talk to myself, to find my calm and to know that life goes in waves and how we face challenges is not to run away but to stay, watch it and let the wave pass. So Happy International Yoga day Yoga and If I was going to buy you (Yoga) a present to say thank you and to celebrate you...... what would I buy you? Because, what do you buy for that someone (if Yoga was a person) that is always there for you, listens to you and gives you what you need? The answer is ....... Commitment. You marry that MF and never lose sight of it's potential for healing you. You have got everything you need in abundance. Yoga, you're the man!! (lol) Namaste xx

Welome to Your Village! I am so excited to be bringing this service to fruition. This is an idea that I have had for a long time. Over the years I myself have looked for a certain service, workshop or meet up type group and struggled to find anything local, that was run often, with like minded people. This is not religious, not for only a certain age (all welcome), you can be a mum, a uni student, have kids, want kids, don't want kids, married, single, separated, have a boyfriend, love books, hate books, exercise (or not) basically anyone can fit in... it's a non judgemental space to come along and connect with like minded souls. Where you can chat, share, relax, make something new, learn something, have a night off and most importantly - Enjoy yourself. I am not normally someone who jumps on social media and shares my insights and I often read so many of my friends posts who do this so well...who have an amazing way with words. But I will try and do it more often. I am very open to hearing from you. I love working with people, I love hearing people talk about their passions and their aspirations and understand that there are so many people who want to/need to share their story but have no real avenue to do so. Your Village was created, to offer this space, to be able to meet like minded souls who are open to listen and be part of a community for people just like you. The first workshop has been created for the EndoWarriors out there and those who live with a chronic illness. This is a series of workshops that will be run by the wonderful Helena Green and she will go through how Relationships can be affected and offer skills to be able to implement in everyday life. This workshop will be capped so those involved can get to know each other and connect through the series. There will be plenty of other Villages created so follow on Instagram for the upcoming events @youandyourvillage. And if you have a service and would like to collaborate with your Village definitely get in touch! Thanks for reading and hope to connect with you soon.
Annie x Firstly, thank you so much to those who came along to The EndoMarch High Tea in Perth and I hope you had a fabulous time enjoying a high tea amongst people who are keen to raise awareness for Endometriosis and to also be present with the doctors and a psychologist that can offer the right treatment and advice.
As we know, with this disease suffering is ongoing and can be a monthly, weekly and for some a daily battle. It affects us through pain and this also affects our mental health. As we were chatting about yesterday, it helps a lot, to know that you are not alone and that having a support group to be able to say 'I feel crap today' is immensely helpful. So we are setting up a group that will meet once a month to; catch up, have a cuppa and support each other. A safe place to share, laugh, cry and be there for others sharing the same life experience. We have also managed to get Helena Green the Clinical Psychosexual Therapist who was at the High Tea yesterday to come to our; every second, monthly catch up and she has so kindly offered to come along to be there to chat and run workshops on topics that will help us in any relationship issues that revolve around having a chronically painful disease! If you are interested in being a part of this group please click the link to join and leave a comment below with a sentence to introduce yourself and we will add you to the list. Again thanks so much for coming to the Endometriosis High Tea and we look forward to hearing from you. Annelise x |
AuthorAnnelise is a mum of 3, a wife to 1 and a friend to many. She loves sleep ins, partying and dancing and gets to do these, pretty much zero to never but has happily traded these past times for her new life being a mum taxi, practising yoga and exploring Perth's natural beauty by getting outdoors as much as possible. After suffering with many unexplained niggles and discomforts for many years Annelise was finally diagnosed with Endometriosis. Having this diagnosis has allowed her to be in more control of her health and also inspired her to create Your Village. She wanted to help others understand, yes you are you and it's ok to feel like s%#t sometimes. Your Village is not just for women with Endo but for anyone who wants to feel connected and have that felling of being part of something because let's face it, how many times do you hear, 'It takes a village' and you know what it does! And where's mine? Well my friend here is Your Village and we can't wait to meet you x ArchivesCategories |
